  • Southern Solace is an out-of-network provider, which means we do not bill insurance directly. Many clients choose to work with us privately because it allows for more flexibility, confidentiality, and personalized care without the limitations that can come with insurance plans.

If you’d like to use your benefits, we’re happy to provide a superbill, which is a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, depending on your plan. We always encourage checking with your provider to understand your out-of-network benefits before beginning services.

Consider the following questions when determining if your insurance will reimburse you for your appointments:

    • What are my mental health insurance benefits?

    • Does my plan cover services rendered by an out of network provider?

    • Is there a deductible to meet before coverage to an out of network provider kicks in?

    • What is the procedure to submit my claims?

    • Is pre-approval required from my physician?

    • Are there any specific limitations (ex: certain number of sessions that will be covered, reimbursement only for certain diagnosis, etc.)

Please review your coverage carefully, and consult with your insurance provider. Each policy is different, so you are encouraged to look into this personally.

  • We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). A card is kept securely on file so we can use all of our session time for meaningful conversation, rather than payment logistics.

Session rates vary based on your therapist’s experience and specialization, generally ranging from $125 to $155 per session.

Extended sessions are also available upon request.

If you have questions about billing or insurance, please email us at hello@clemsoncounseling.com to reach Eva, our Client Coordinator.

  • We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment so we can offer that time to another client. Missed or late-canceled sessions without notice may be charged the full session fee. We understand that life happens and communication is key. We’ll always do our best to work with you when unexpected things come up.

  • Your privacy is one of our highest priorities. What you share in therapy stays between you and your therapist, with very few exceptions required by law, such as concerns about safety or abuse. We take confidentiality seriously, creating a space where you can speak freely without judgment or worry. Your trust matters, and we want you to feel safe being completely open here.

A note to parents: We know you care deeply about your student’s well-being. Once a student turns 18, therapy sessions are confidential, meaning we can’t share details without their written consent. This privacy helps them speak openly and build trust with their therapist. If there are ever concerns about safety, we’ll take appropriate steps to ensure they’re protected, which may include notifying parents or emergency contacts. Otherwise, therapy remains a private, judgment-free space for your student to process, grow, and learn new ways to handle life’s challenges.

  • We completely understand that parents want to support their students’ mental health, and we value that care and involvement. Parents are welcome to reach out to learn about our process or complete the interest form to help get things started.

Once received, our team will contact the student directly to discuss next steps, since adult clients (18 and older) manage their own scheduling, sessions, and treatment decisions. Parents can’t establish care on their behalf, but we’re happy to guide you on how to encourage your student to connect with us. In the event of a mental health emergency, we will contact the client’s designated emergency contact.

  • Our practice is not able to provide 24-hour availability or crisis services.

Good Faith Estimate

In compliance with the No Surprise Act, you are entitled to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of what the charges are for therapy services provided to you. At Southern Solace, you pay per appointment, however your total cost of services will depend upon the number of therapy sessions you attend. It is difficult to determine the true length or frequency of treatment for mental health care, and each client has a right to decide how long they would like to participate. The fee schedule for services is outlined in the new client paperwork completed prior to beginning services. We are happy to discuss progress with you on a regular basis to determine how many sessions you may need. If you are billed for more than this Good Faith Estimate, please let us know so we can make the proper adjustments in a timely manner. However, you also have the right to start a dispute resolution process here: https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises/consumers or call 1-800-985-3059.
